That wonderfully expressive picture of June brought back so many memories. I want to share some memories that made me smile and reminded me of what a wonderful, loving and energetic person she was - and you were as a couple.
Among the first memories to pop up were those where her generosity just overflowed:
The night you two brought dinner here after some hospital stay.
Another night we and other Herman Smith friends were the beneficiaries and your joint culinary efforts in your lovely Glen Ellyn home
One night we sat in your Orlando loft and amused ourselves by reading the flowery, effusive text on the wind bottles we had done our best to empty during yet another scrumptious meal.
Your hospitality extended to another stay in your lovely Sarasota condo. There was always great conversation, wonderful food and wine, and so much generosity.
And then there are the memories from Herman Smith. Mary Kay, June and I staying late to run a report and proving there was a reason for secretarial staff. It certainly wasn't our calling. Mary Kay, June and I had many a great lunch together, after our "retirements." We were blessed to have her as a friend.
It must have been terribly hard to watch her fade from the effervescent person she always was. You were so faithful in making sure she was safe and well-cared for. We do hope that gives you solace. We are thinking of you.
