A friend's memories from Elmhurst

My memories of June go back a long way. It was so long ago, but I remember your family home across from Jane. Jane, June and I had so many wonderful conversations. Jane was a stickler that this was to be an adult time only. The three of us really connected even though we were so different. June was working at the time as was Jane who was recently divorce, while I was a stay at home mom. World events and politics seemed to be the most important topic - certainly not the children and gossip.

June was very creative and I remember she loved to cook. Jane and I would sit in your kitchen while she finished whatever she was creating - such a talent.

Nancy of course was our babysitter. Hard to believe because Mike is now 55. Julie was the swimmer and I was kept up to date because of her career in the world of sharks. Andy Bruce I didn't know that well, but I remember the discussions as to what he should be called so as not to confuse him with you.

I remember driving to your Chicago home in Wicker Park and our last visit when she told me tearfully that she was losing her memory. Her next permanent address was in Florida where you, Bruce, were employed.

I miss her and she was an important part of my Elmhurst life.

I know she is in a better place and that you have been engaged in her well-being for many years. I'm sure your void will be filled over time. You have been a wonderful human being over these stressful times and I will always think of you and that part of your life. Hang in there and keep in touch.

Fondly - Marilyn and Larry Wylie
